Rise Up, Sing Out! was exactly what we hoped it would be: a joyful, creative, restorative evening in community.

We had so much fun painting, coloring, crafting, and chatting with each other!

After a full weekend of civic action, organizing, canvassing, marching, showing up for Pride, preparing for Juneteenth, and doing the steady work of democracy, Camel City United Indivisible gathered at the Delta Arts Center in Winston-Salem to take a breath together.

We painted. We crafted. We talked. We laughed. We shared food, stories, and space. Some people came with a project in hand, others picked up a paintbrush when they arrived, and some simply came to be with the community.

Every piece reflected the spirit of the evening: freedom, courage, belonging, creativity, and hope.

Later in the evening, we watched Rise Up, Sing Out: A Concert for the First Amendment, joining people across the country in celebrating the freedoms of speech, religion, press, assembly, and protest.

This gathering reminded us that civic work is not only about resistance. It is also about relationship. It is about joy. It is about creating the kind of community we are working to protect.

Thank you to everyone who came, created, rested, sang along, and helped make the evening so meaningful. We left encouraged, connected, and ready to keep showing up — together.
