Local Group Set to Launch Community Initiative
Camel City United Indivisible (CCUI) announces the “Community Building Initiative” for Winston-Salem. The initiative will focus on bringing neighbors together for a common purpose. After attending leadership training sessions, volunteers will form local teams based on community needs. CCUI will help teams build the skills they need to advance their community goals.
“We have to lift up individuals, especially people who do not have a voice in today’s society”, CCUI founder, Rudy Click, said. “Working together, being resilient and well-informed will give people a strong voice in our government.”
According to Click, the initiative is community-based and community-led because every area of Winston-Salem has different needs. A community can not just look inward. It has to be a part of something bigger. Building a strong community base and bringing different communities together for a common purpose serves the greater good of Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, and North Carolina. That is why the Winston-Salem No Kings 3 theme is “We Rise Together”.
During the No Kings event on Saturday, March 28th, attendees will be asked to get involved with the initiative and sign up before leaving the rally. Representatives from CCUI will contact volunteers within a few days to discuss next steps.
No Kings 3 begins at 11:30 a.m. at Winston-Salem’s historic Union Station, located at 300 S Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. For more information, visit CCUI’s website camelcityunitedindivisible.org.
